University of the Western Cape(UWC) Required Documents for Admissions
Students applying to the University of the Western Cape(UWC) must upload the following documents in PDF format, with the exception of the passport-sized photo, which can be submitted in png or jpg.

- For Foreigner students > Study Permit (valid for duration of study period) SAQA Foreign Qualifications Evaluation (saqa.org.za) Passport
Academic Documents: A certified copy of the latest school report / Senior Certificate or highest certificate or results.
Other Documents: Deposit / necessary fees,Accompanied by money for textbooks, kits,
stationery and learning material (where applicable),Preferably
accompanied by a parent/guardian if under 18,Proof of Residence
University of the Western Cape(UWC) Application Fee
There is NO application fee to apply. In order for your application to be considered COMPLETE you must successfully complete the online application form as well as submit all required documentation
How to Upload /Submit Documents on University of the Western Cape(UWC) Admission portal
- Visit to the ‘Apply for admission: application tool’ page
- Click on the bubble next to ‘Documents’
- Fill in your information
- Click on choose file and select the corresponding files from your device
- Click on ‘Upload’
- Once done submitting all documents, click on ‘Submit documents and continue’
- Now, you need to pay the application fee
How to Apply University of the Western Cape(UWC)
- Choose Your Course
- First choose the course that you would like to study.
- You can review all available UWC courses at https://www.uwc.ac.za/Pages/AllProgrammes.aspx
- Meet Minimum Entry Requirements
- Ensure that you meet the minimum UWC Entry Requirements for 2022.
- These are the minimum academic results required to gain entry to the university.
- At least a National Senior Certificate NSC Bachelor pass is required with an achievement rating of 4 or better in four subjects.
- UWC then uses a weighted points system for their degree and diploma programmes – more details on these can be found at UWC Entry Requirements.
- Please note that just meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you a place to study.
- Check Fees and Funding
- You should ensure that you have the necessary access to funds in order to pay for your further education.
- Complete the Online Application
- Fill out all the details on the UWC Online Application form
- Grade 12 applications – apply with end of Grade 11 results for your academic record
- Acknowledgment of Application
- Once you have submitted your application online. You will receive a letter via email from the university confirming your application.
- This email should also contain your Application number
- Upload your supporting documents
- You must upload all supporting documents at: http://studentdocumentupload.uwc.ac.za in order for your application to be accepted.
- Use your Application Number to login in and upload all required application documents
- For Grade 12 applications – No documents will need to be submitted at this stage. All the necessary information should be included on the online application form.
- Application Status and Offer to Study
- Applicants will notified of an outcome via email or they can check the status of their application on the UWC online services portal by going to ‘Application Status’
- Grade 12 applicants that are applying for admission will receive their final outcome once the final results are published in 2022.
- Those that are not Grade 12 applicants should obtain an outcome by end Nov 2021. If you are still waiting for your 2021 final results, you should receive final outcomes in January / February 2022.

Should you not have a valid email address you can create an email account using Gmail, Yahoo Mail or any other email provider you may prefer.

Selection will only be done from those applicants who are made offers of study by the University based on placement criteria and availability of space (not all applicants who have been made an offer to study can be accommodated). Please note that the number of applicants usually far exceeds the number of spaces available in various programmes. As a result offers are based on merit and availability of space, not all applicants who meet the minimum admission requirements for their programme/s of choice, can be made an offer to study. Make sure you have applied to more than one institution and type of tertiary education institution.
