How to Provide Proof of Registration with UIF

In order to provide proof of registration with UIF, the employers are supposed to adhere to the following procedures:

Get UIF Reference Number

Upon successful registration with UIF, employers will be assigned a UIF reference number. This number is a certificate of registration and it must be kept close to the employer.

Review Employment Agreements

The employed individuals’ contracts should have the reference number for UIF. This is to ensure that the said UIF registration by the employer is known by the other party whenever it is needed to be referred to.

Show the UI Certificate

Post or keep the UI certificate or its copy within the work premises and ensure it is within the sight of workers. This acts as evidence for registration with UIF and shows adherence to laws about employees and labor agencies.

Comply with the Verification

In some instances, the employers may be required by the UIF to provide further proof or evidence in relation to their registration. Compliance with such requests and submission of the respective certificates that confirm the registration should be done by the employers as soon as possible.

What Documents Do You Need to Register for UIF?

In order to register for UIF the following documents are required from the employers:

Employer Identification

Attach a certified copy of the employer’s Id or business registration documents.

Proof of Business Address

Provide business address proof such as utilities and lease agreements for the verification of employer’s physical address.

Employee Details

Proper records of the employee particulars such as names, identity numbers, date of employment, and salary information have to be kept.

Banking Details

The employer’s banking particulars, that is, bank name, bank account number, and branch code for payment of contributions and benefits, have to be provided.

UI-8 Form

The employer and the employees related specific UI-8 form fillings have to be done and returned with the above-mentioned form.
