The Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) Is the One of the Results of apartheid which happened in South Africa in 1948 to the early of 1990’s,The Government of South Africa started RDP Program to fix the huge social and economic problems that had been caused by the apartheid era.
Who Can Qualifies to buy an RDP House?
- A South African citizen or someone with a permit to live there permanently.
- A first-time government subsidy recipient
- Having a monthly household income of less than R3,500. This means that the total monthly income of a household with two people shouldn’t be more than R3,500.
- At least 21 years old
- To sign a contract, you must be mentally fit.
- To be eligible to buy a vacant service site, you must not have owned a fixed home.
- Married or living with a partner or single and have dependents (children must not necessarily be your own) (children must not necessarily be your own)

The worth of an RDP housing unit varies from one location to another because construction costs vary from one province or municipality to another. An average unit is around 50 square metres.
